Renaming and Deleting Sections

All sections, which you have created, and all predefined sections can be deleted, renamed or transformed into another section. When you did not use a section in your project, you can delete or rename it. When you rename or delete sections that you have already used in your documentation, you have to be aware of a few side effects.

When you delete a section that you have already used, Doc-O-Matic will not be able to recognize the section starter string and presume the section heading is normal text. The text of this section will appear as text of the default section.

  1. On the View tab in the Views group, click Settings.
  2. On the General Settings tab, click Section.
  3. In the Section list, select the section you want to rename, and then click Edit.
  4. Into the Name box, type a new name.
  5. In the Starters box, type the new name in front of the old starter strings. If the Starters box is empty, type the old name of the section and the new name.
  6. In the Section list, the renamed section appears with the new section heading and section properties.
  7. Renaming is save if you do not omit the old Starters of the section.
  1. Assume you have two sections named Example Projects and Projects. You want to change all Projects sections into Example Projects section because you do not want to use two sections to show projects. To transform Projects sections into Example Projects:
  2. In the Section list, select Projects.
  3. Into the Starters box, copy the starter strings you used for this section, and then remove them.
  4. Into the Starters box, type starter strings that will never occur in your project (for example zzadfiaisdfj).
  5. In the Section list, select Example Projects.
  6. Into the Starters box, paste the starter strings of the Projects section.
  7. Now all used Projects sections appear as Example Projects sections. If you have used both sections in a topic, Doc-O-Matic combines text to one section text block.
