Using Text Labels

In addition to apply character formatting to the topic text you can apply a label to parts of the topic text. Labels allow you to apply different character formatting for each of your configurations and you can change character formatting after finishing your documentation by simply changing label settings. You can also use labels to show parts of topic text in one configuration and omit it in other configurations. In addition you can use labels for recurring information types such as shortcut, menu paths and notes. This way you can insert images, add prefixes and change delimiters after finishing your documentation.

  1. Place your cursor in the text you want to format.
  2. Do one of the following.
    • Click the Labels button.
    • Press SHIFT+CTRL+<SPACE> to open the label menu.
  3. Click a label.

    • Press SHIFT+CTRL+<SPACE> to open the label menu.
  2. Click Add Label.
  3. In the Name box, type a name for your label.
  4. Define character formatting, conditions and other settings.
  5. If you want to define those settings differently for each configurations do the following.
  6. On the View tab in the Views group, click Settings.
  7. On the corresponding Configuration tab, click AutoDoc > Text Labels.
  8. Select the label you want to edit and click Edit.
  9. Change label values for the current configuration.
