Project Parsing and Conversion

Doc-O-Matic has three ways for you to determine when your project is automatically parsed.

  • To parse new files when they are added to the project, select the Parse new files instantly check box.
  • To parse your project when it is opened, select the Parse projects when opening check box.
  • To parse your project before building it, select the Parse projects when building check box. In these instances an accurate documentation is guaranteed because it is up-to-date when it is being built. However, a build takes more time with this option is turned on.

In Doc-O-Matic 10 only UTF-8 files can be edited. Source files not encoded in UTF-8 are parsed and included in the output. The content is not displayed in the Editor and can not be edited. Source files can be converted to UTF-8 in several parts of the program (Editor and Project Manager). If the check box on this page is selected, Doc-O-Matic scans the project for files not encoded in UTF-8 each time the project is updated and asks if the source files should be converted. If you deselect the check box Ask to convert source code files to UTF-8 you can prevent that Doc-O-Matic scans the project for unconverted files. The option to convert files will available in the Editor for the current topic in either case.
