Master Project and Path Macros

In Doc-O-Matic 6 there are three new features for making project configurations and project handling easier. You can:

  • Use a master project file to handle multiple projects that use similar settings.
  • Use path macros for all file paths that are necessary for your Doc-O-Matic project
  • Store your TOC information externally, so that you can reuse it for other projects.
  1. On the Views Bar, click Settings.
  2. Select [General Settings]GeneralMaster Project.
  3. Browse your folders for the Doc-O-Matic project that you want to use as master project file.
  4. Only settings that are different from the settings in the master project file will be stored in your project and changes to the master project file will be reflected automatically in your project.
  1. In the Tools menu, select Application Options.
  2. Select Path Macros.
  3. Enter for example MYPATH=C:\MyProjects\Project1. Do not enter the last backslash. If you move your project to another folder or machine enter the new value for your path macro.
  4. From now on, Doc-O-Matic will use the macro MYPATH whenever it stores reference to files or folders in the C:\MyProjects\Project1 sub-folder.
  5. When the project is loaded on a different machine where the project path is different, just define the path macro correspondingly and Doc-O-Matic will be able to load and save projects without any adjustments to the paths.
  1. On the Views Bar, click Settings.
  2. Select [General Settings]GeneralMaster Project.
  3. This way you can share TOC information for multiple projects.

Note: When setting the TOC information for the first time the current TOC information in the project will be stored to the external TOC file.
