You can:
- Show the contents page on the left side of the screen using frames in WebHelp. For more information about frames, see Layout.
- Create the TOC by using JavaScript and DHTML so that the user can expand TOC levels and the TOC synchronizes with the current topic.
- Determine how many levels you want to expand when the page is opened on the Files & Format

- Add a brief description of the table of contents to the Special Topic !!CONTENTS. The text is shown one line below the title.
- Apply character and paragraph styles to the table of contents using these Formatting Elements:

You can change character and paragraph styles of other Formatting Elements of the contents page (page content body, file body, header and footer) by changing the Formatting Elements of each page.
You can:
- Set the level of topics that expand in the TOC and in the bookmarks on the Files & Format
Output Options page. - Align page numbers on the right, on the Files & Format
Output Options page. - Show chapter numbers in your TOC on the Files & Format
