Using the Spelling Checker

The Topic Editor includes an integrated spelling checker. There are several options that allow you do configure the spelling checker.

There are three modes in which you can use the spelling checker in your project.

To check the spelling in the current topic (including the Topic Properties), click Spell Check .
To check the spelling in the whole project, point to Edit, and then select Spell Check Project .
To live spell the project, point to Edit, and then select Live Spelling.

To set spelling checker options

On the Editor menu, point to Options, and then select Spell Checker Options.
In the Options box, click the option you want to change for the spelling checker.
In the Dictionaries box, select the dictionaries you want to use.
To add words to dictionaries, you need to use a custom dictionary. If you have Word installed on your computer, your Word custom dictionary (.dic file) is automatically included and can be used to add new words.

To create a new custom dictionary

On the Editor menu, point to Options, and then select Spell Checker Options.
In the Options box, click Dictionaries.
In the Dictionaries dialog box, click New.
Type a name for your new dictionary.
The new custom dictionary is stored in an .adu file and added to your spell checker.
In the Custom Dictionary box, select your new dictionary.
In the Spelling Checker dialog box , click Add, to add words to this dictionary.

To turn live spelling off

On the Topic Editor menu, point to Edit.
Select Live Spelling to toggle the live spelling feature.

Notes

Only dictionaries in English, French and German are included in the installation. For more dictionaries, visit www.doc-o-matic.com/download.shtml. Dictionaries for the following languages are available: English (Australian and British), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German (New), Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and a dictionary for technical terms.
