Doc-O-Matic

Updates

Release notes on updates released for Doc-O-Matic 6:

Back to the main release:

New features, changes and fixed issues in version 6.4.

This is a major update to release 6, an update to this version is strongly recommended. Older 6.x versions are no longer supported beginning with the release of v6.4. Upgrades are free for existing 6.x customers.

New

• Doc-O-Matic is now available with German user interface and Online Help. The language can be switched via main menu "View->Language". The language of the Online help is automatically changed with the user interface language.
• Includes a new project template called "Vorlage Deutsch" for creating native German language output without any translation needs as well as an updated German translation dictionary.
• For Help 2 output you can now add custom topic-based attributes which can be used to filter content by.
• Flags have now the ability to act as topic attributes.
• For Help 2 configurations the flag edit dialog offers new options to use the flag as attribute and to name the attribute.
• When used in a topic, such flags will produce MSHELP:ATTR tags for the topic's page which can be used in topic filter expressions.
• A new article has been published that illustrates the use of flags to facilitate custom topic based attribute filtering in Help 2.
Added

• A new Keyword Edit Dialog has been added to the Editor which makes editing keyword lists much more convenient. The keyword editor is accessible from the topic property inspector's new ellipsis button for the keyword properties.
• A new warning has been added whenever a variable is resolved to and empty value: [152] In Topic "[ID]": Using empty variable "%VAR%".
• The global text find feature now supports searching for occurrences of variables, labels and snippets.
• For multi-language syntax output, Doc-O-Matic now generates C# and VB.NET syntax for global functions. This is to better support languages such as Delphi.NET that automatically put globals into special classes and make them accessible in .NET.
• Added support for C++Builder 2007 project files (*.cbproj).
• A new feature has been added to source code comment parsing that allows the use of ... sections within
and
blocks. Within a properly marked up CDATA section Doc-O-Matic will ignore any tags but
and
. This further improves Doc-O-Matic's flexibility in processing source comments. CDATA sections are a read-only feature, they will be converted to conventional comments when using the Editor.
Changed

• The option pages are now wider to use the available screen space more efficiently. The minimum resolution required to work with Doc-O-Matic is now 1024x768 (previously 800x600).
• The term "Contents Entry" has been replaced by "Folder" in the UI and documentation.
• Changes have been implemented for how application shortcut changes are stored. As a result, the all application shortcuts will revert to the default when starting this new release for the first time.
Fixed

• Fixed a problem with the PDF index page and WebHelp index page that caused duplicate subsections for characters in certain cases.
• For label prefix/postfix formatting and label text replacement Doc-O-Matic now ensures that images are only written when the image name is not empty. Previous versions did not ensure this causing warnings during the output generation about empty image tags.
• Fixed an issue with code block processing that caused end tags of non - Doc-O-Matic tags to be eaten (only the open tags would show up in the output).
• An issue with the Topic Editor that could cause strange formatting in the output when using the "Exclude from output" label option. Topics exhibiting this behavior just need to be opened and saved with the new version once to fix the issue.
• An issue with QuickDoc saving behaviors when entering a DTX filename with a path which caused a crash upon saving and required a restart of the application.
• An issue with the Topic Editors live spell checker suggestion list which could contain blank items.
• An issue with the Topic Editor's property inspector that caused irritating cursor focus behavior when using the ellipsis buttons on a property and canceling the opened dialog.
• An issue in the IDL parser which caused erroneous parsing of dispinterface declarations that contained "methods:" or "properties:" declarators.
• When searching for links, variables, labels or snippets the editor no longer produces a "Text not found" message when opening the topic in the editor through double-clicking the corresponding message view item.
• Fixed an issue with Pascal source code one-line conditional defines which could cause symbol parsing to be disrupted after the define in special cases.
